One Torah for All

One Torah shall be to him that is home-born, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

Have You Received The Power?  -  Part 1
How to Begin Your Walk

“But you shall receive power when the Set-apart Spirit will come upon you; and you will be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all      Yehudah [Judea] and Shomron [Samaria], and even to the remotest part of the Earth.”                                                               Ma’aseh [Acts] 1:8

Have you received this power that was promised to each and every true believer and true follower of Yeshua Mashiach?  Do you want to know how to receive it?

This article will lay the foundation to receive that promised power.  This is the first part in a three-part series which will guide the reader through Scripture so that he can learn how to walk in the fullness of the Set-apart Spirit.

Part Two is entitled:  Have You Received the Power?  Part 2:  Have You Been Filled With the Set-apart Spirit Since You Believed?  This article will guide the talmid (disciple) into actually receiving the vital promise of being filled with His Spirit.

Part Three, Have You Received the Power?  Part 3:  Walking in the Set-apart Spirit, will then address the vital area of living the set-apart life.  Once a person is filled with the Set-apart Spirit, he needs to go on  maturing in knowledge and grace, learning to walk in the Set-apart Spirit moment by moment.

This first part may seem rather basic to some.  Please do not make the mistake that there is nothing here for you.  If you would simply ask YHWH to open your eyes to His Truth and reveal to you your need, then He will meet you as you seek Him.  The key here, is to obey what He says to you and what He shows you to do.

YHWH Came Looking for You!

Divre Hayamim Bet [2nd Chronicles] 16:9
“For the eyes of YHWH move to and fro throughout the Earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”

YHWH is always on the lookout for anyone who is willing to turn from his sinful ways and walk according to His Torah.

Yochanan Aleph [1 John] 4:9-10
By this the love of YHWH was manifested in us, that YHWH has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.  In this is love, not that we loved YHWH, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be a propitiation for our sins.

YHWH is the One who initiated the search and came looking for you (and me).  If He would not have done so, we would have had no hope.  We can and should be thankful that YHWH loved us this much, for without this great love, we are completely lost.

Romiyah [Romans] 5:8
YHWH demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Mashiach died for us.

Even while we were lost in our sinful state Mashiach died for us.  This was a true outpouring of love toward us.  YHWH took the first step in the process of reconciliation.

Conviction of Personal Need

Tehillim [Psalm] 14:1-3
1              The fool has said in his heart, “There is no Elohim.”
They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds;
There is no one who does good.
2              YHWH has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men,
To see if there are any who understand,
Who seek after Elohim.
3              They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
There is no one who does good, not even one.

Do you consider yourself a good person?  Scripture plainly teaches us that there is not anyone who does good.  We are not even capable of doing good because of our corruptness.

Yochanan [John] 16:8
“And He [Set-apart Spirit], when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment.”

One aspect of the ministry of the Set-apart Spirit, is to show clearly to each and every person his own personal sin.  In pointing this sin out to the individual, the Set-apart Spirit shows that person that he has a need that he personally cannot fulfill.  Do you sense this conviction in your spirit?  Do you yield to this conviction?

The Set-apart Spirit can do this by a variety of means.  This can be accomplished internally by means of your conscience.  It can be done through the reading of Scripture.  It can be done by hearing someone talk to you either personally or in a group setting.

Romiyah [Romans] 3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of YHWH.

Becoming aware of this reality in your personal life is only through the ministry of the Set-apart Spirit.  Accepting this Truth is a major step in entering into a personal relationship with one’s Creator.  Do you acknowledge this Truth?

Romiyah [Romans] 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of YHWH is eternal life in Mashiach Yeshua our Master.

Not only does one need to understand that he is a sinner, but that he also is under the penalty of death as a result of this reality.  What wages will you collect from the Almighty Judge?

Choices!

Yehoshua [Joshua] 24:15
“And if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve YHWH, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve:  whether the elohim which your fathers served which were beyond the river, or the elohim of the Amori in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve YHWH.”

This was true in Yehoshua’s day, and it is still true today.  Each and every person must, at some point in his life, make this choice.  A person can choose to serve the false elohim which have no breath or intelligence, which are made of only wood or stone; the imaginations of one’s own heart.  Or, a person can choose to serve YHWH.  What does your everyday living reveal about whom you serve?

There are no other options available.  No one can choose for you.  If you refuse to make a choice, you are making a choice by acquiescence, by default.  To do this is to choose the false elohim.  The default choice is to serve the false elohim of this present darkness.

Who Will You Choose to Serve Today?

Yochanan [John] 16:8
“And He [Set-apart Spirit], when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment.”

Not only does the Set-apart Spirit convict individuals of sin, but of righteousness as well, showing once again the need to make a choice.  Either one will choose sin, or one will choose righteousness.  Are you convicted of your need for His righteousness?

Which one will you choose?

Tehillim [Psalm] 51:17
The sacrifices of Elohim are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, Elohim, You will not turn away.

Do you truly feel remorse for your sinful life?  Are you broken in your heart and spirit, being truly sorry for your Torah breaking life?

Yechezkel [Ezekiel] 33:19
“But when the wicked turns from his wickedness and practices justice and righteousness, he will live by them.”

If a person is truly sorry for his sinful life, then what will happen, is that he will turn away from that sinful life and begin living a life according to the Torah and commandments of YHWH.  Have you turned completely from your wickedness and put it all in the past?

Divre HaYamim Bet [2nd Chronicles] 7:14
“And if My people who are called by My Name humble themselves and pray and seek My Face and turn from their wicked ways, then, I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Listed here are four things that must happen if we are to receive all the blessings that YHWH desires to give to us.  First, we must humble ourselves.  That means we are to stop putting ourselves first and claiming all the credit, when it is YHWH alone Who deserves it.  Have you stopped seeking your own will?

Then we need to pray.  But what should we pray?

Luqa [Luke] 13:5
“Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

We not only need to recognize that we are sinners, but we also need to confess this to YHWH.  Do this and live.

Then we need to seek His Face.  This is a reference to keeping His commandments, which is coupled with turning away from our sin (wicked ways).  Again, this illustrates the choice a person makes; i.e., seeking His Face (Torah observance), or a wicked life (Torah breaking).

Romiyah [Romans] 10:9-10
That if you confess with your mouth Yeshua is Master, and believe in your heart that YHWH raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

For a person to be saved, that person must confess Yeshua as the Master of his life.  He must also believe that YHWH raised Him from the dead.  Are you presently confessing Yeshua as your Master?  If not, you need to repent.

Now that we have looked at man’s responsibility concerning the crisis of the salvation experience, let us turn and examine just exactly what YHWH has promised He would do for and in a person who would repent (of his sins), confess (Yeshua as Master) and live (keep Torah) for Him.

YHWH’s Response

Yeshayah [Isaiah] 55:7
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to YHWH and He will have compassion on him; and to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.

When a person truly returns to YHWH, He will forgive him of his unrighteous ways (lawlessness = Torahlessness).  This is, of course, with the understanding that one truly turns from his wickedness (Torahlessness) and lives according to His commandments (Torah).

Yochanan Aleph [1 John] 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If a person confesses his sins to YHWH, then He promises to forgive that person.

As one is forgiven by faith, one is also justified by faith.

Romiyah [Romans] 5:1
Therefore having been justified by faith, we have shalom [peace] with YHWH through our Master Yeshua Mashiach.

Do you desire to have true peace in your life?  Then you need to be made righteous by faith through Yeshua.  That is the only way to have true peace.

So YHWH forgives us and He justifies us (makes righteous) to enable us to live and keep Torah before Him.

Qorintyah Bet [2nd Corinthians] 5:17
Therefore if any man is in Mashiach, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

YHWH forgives a person who asks to be forgiven.  He also justifies that person.  He also gives him new life.

Making New Year’s resolutions is not the proper way to have a new start in life.  If a person desires to have a fresh start, then what that person needs is a new life.  That can only come through the Blood Atonement of Mashiach.

Yechezqel [Ezekiel] 36:26
“Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

YHWH will act in accordance with His Name and He will put within all the House of Yisrael a new heart and a new spirit, not the old dead substance that has been seen before; but rather, one of life.

Hoshea [Hosea] 1:10
Yet the number of the sons of Yisrael will be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered; and it will come about that, in the place where it is said to them, “You are the sons of El Chay (Living El).”

YHWH not only forgives, justifies, and regenerates, but he also adopts us as sons.

Romiyah [Romans] 8:15
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba Father!”

The privilege of calling our Creator “Abba Father” carries with it the responsibility of living as His sons would live.  His sons truly keep His commandments (Torah).  And the keeping of Torah is from a heart that is filled with His love for all these things that He has done for us and in us.  Does your life resemble the life of a son of the Living El?

Yochanan Aleph [1 John] 2:3-6
3 And by this we know that we have come to know Him [YHWH], if we keep His [YHWH’s] commandments.
4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him [YHWH],” and does not keep His [YHWH’s] commandments, is a liar, and the Truth is not in him;
5 but whoever keeps His [YHWH’s] word, in him the love of YHWH has truly been perfected.  By this we know that we are in Him [YHWH]:
6 the one who says he abides in Him [YHWH] ought himself to walk in the same manner as He [Yeshua] walked.

May you know the fullness of YHWH’s love through the keeping of His commandments.  As Yeshua lived a life that was pleasing to our Heavenly Father, may we, each and every one of us, also live a life that is pleasing and acceptable to Abba YHWH.
